Difficulties with linking categories and topics on the WordPress forum, as well as problems with displaying topics: Help needed!

Hello,
1) I have a problem with assigning categories and topics to forums on the site. Logically, I would expect threads to be tied to categories, but they also seem to be tied to forums. I tried to create a new forum, category and topic, and link them together, but something went wrong.
2) When I browse the forum, I see the topic title in the preview, but when I try to go to the topic itself, it doesn't show up.
I would be grateful for any support or advice.
